Clear Skin Starts from Within 💫

Clearing my skin was a huge part of my healing journey. For years, I struggled with breakouts, dermatitis, and eczema.

I tried everything—fluoride-free toothpaste, special creams, oils, and ointments—but nothing seemed to work. My dermatologist kept recommending steroids and antibiotics, while my primary care doctor suggested the birth control pill.

But deep down, I knew that medication wasn’t the answer. It wasn’t going to address the root cause of why my skin was breaking out and inflamed in the first place.

Our skin is a mirror of what’s happening internally. Breakouts, rashes, and other skin issues are often signals from the body that something deeper needs attention.

✨ Radiant, glowing skin is the result of internal health and balance

No amount of expensive skincare, trendy products, or prescriptions can truly heal the skin if we’re not addressing what’s driving the inflammation from within.

So, What Causes Inflammation?

  • Eating processed foods

  • Sugar & refined carbohydrates (muffins, cakes, cookies, bread, pasta)

  • Food additives (gums, natural and artificial flavorings, emulsifiers, preservatives, chemical additives)

  • Processed meats (cold cuts, salami, hot dogs, sausages) & conventional meats that are fed hormones and antibiotics (ALWAYS buy organic, grass-fed meat!)

  • Alcohol

  • Lack of movement

  • Chronic stress

  • Smoking & vaping

  • Toxin exposure (from conventional personal care and household cleaning products)

  • Environmental toxins (in our water and air)

  • Poor sleep or lack of rest

As you can see, the biggest drivers of inflammation often stem from our daily lifestyle choices—like eating processed foods, drinking alcohol, being sedentary, or running on little sleep. These choices lead to chronic, systemic inflammation that can show up as hormone imbalances, gut issues, skin conditions, fatigue, hair loss, weight gain… you name it.

These root causes are deeply interconnected. A diet high in sugar, alcohol, and processed foods spikes blood sugar, disrupts hormones, damages gut health, and raises stress levels—all of which feed the cycle of inflammation.

✨ For example: If your gut isn’t functioning properly, it can’t metabolize hormones effectively—which leads to hormonal imbalances. And when you're frequently spiking blood sugar with refined carbs, it raises your risk of insulin resistance (the main driver of PCOS and acne).

Skin Health = Whole Body Health

To support your skin, you need to support your entire body—by optimizing nutrition, balancing hormones, healing your gut, lowering your toxic load, and managing stress.

Let’s Start With Food 🍽️

Food is one of the most powerful tools we have.
It can either drive inflammation—or help heal it.

While everyone’s root cause is different (you might have leaky gut, elevated testosterone, or a key nutrient deficiency), the foundation of healing starts with what’s on your plate.

That’s why I always recommend working with a functional medicine practitioner if you want to dig deeper. I’ve shared a few I’ve personally worked with in My Wellness Tool Kit.

But no matter where you are in your journey, one truth remains:

✨ When you change the way you eat, your skin begins to heal.

What to Avoid:

  • Sugar

  • Refined carbohydrates

  • Industrial seed oils

  • Processed foods

  • Alcohol

  • Dairy/gluten (if you’re sensitive)

These foods are highly inflammatory and can spike your blood sugar, disrupt your gut, and throw off your hormones—all of which show up on your skin.

So, What Should We Eat for Glowy Skin?

To support radiant, healthy skin, focus on an anti-inflammatory, nutrient-dense diet.

That means loading your plate with colorful fruits and vegetables, healthy fats from nuts and seeds, and omega-3-rich fish like salmon or sardines.

Don’t forget powerful spices like ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon—these are packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory compounds that support your skin from the inside out.

Start with food, and you’ll start to glow from the inside out.
Your skin will thank you. Your energy will shift. Your whole body will feel better.

✨ Your glow is waiting—let’s go get it. 💛
