LET’S TALK EMOTIONS
Emotions Are Energy in Motion
Emotions are not just abstract thoughts—we physically feel them throughout our bodies.
Positive emotions might make us feel light, clear-headed, energized, and as if we’re standing taller.
Negative emotions, on the other hand, can manifest as a tight chest, shallow breath, clenched jaw, or tense shoulders—as if we’re carrying the weight of the world.
These sensations are energy.
But here’s the key: They are not who we are.
Emotions do not define us; they are simply experiences that move through us, bringing valuable insights and messages. They are an invitation to connect with ourselves, to take inventory of our inner world, to pause, and to learn.
What Is Your Emotion Trying to Tell You?
Instead of resisting or suppressing an emotion, sit with it. Ask yourself:
What is this feeling trying to communicate?
When do I feel this way?
Is it in a certain environment?
Around specific people?
During a particular activity?
If you often feel anxious, irritable, or tense in certain settings, it might be a signal that something is out of alignment. Perhaps it's time for a change—a shift towards something that resonates more deeply with who you truly are.
Alignment feels like peace.
It feels like calm, creativity, joy, and ease.
Where Does the Emotion Sit in Your Body?
Now, take note of where the emotion physically resides:
Is your chest tight?
Are your teeth clenched?
Are your shoulders tensed?
Are your eyes squinted?
That tension is the emotion—it’s energy that has become stuck.
But emotions are not meant to stay trapped. They are meant to move through us.
Let It Move Through You
Once you recognize the emotion and understand its message, the next step is to release it.
Talk it out with a friend.
Cry.
Move your body—run, stretch, dance, shake it out.
Journal—let your raw and honest thoughts flow onto paper.
Sit in stillness—feel the tightness, acknowledge its presence, tell yourself you are safe, take the information and let the feeling pass.
Emotions Are Our Greatest Guides
Let life move through you.
Life is full of feelings—some small, some overwhelming. But every single one carries information about who we really are, what we truly want, and what we deeply need.
We are not anxiety.
We are not depression.
We are not fear.
We experience emotions, but they are merely vessels of information guiding us toward alignment—again and again and again.
Emotions make us feel alive.
And when we learn to listen to them, they lead us toward a life of clarity, authenticity, and deep alignment.
You are not the feeling. You can sit in stillness and let them move through you. Hold them, experience them, share them, feel them. Take the information they offer and then let them go.
Think of yourself standing at a train station. Watch each train go by—feel the wind as it passes, hear the noise, and notice how it feels. Then, let the train move through.
Just like this, we can notice, feel, and learn from each emotion as it moves through us without letting it get stuck in us and also choosing not to get stuck on it.
We can choose to stay at the station and let life move through us.
5 WAYS WE’RE FEELING OUR FEELINGS
Sitting with ourselves. Just sit and feel. For 3 minutes a day or 30 minutes a day. Whatever you need.
Write down 5 things we love about ourselves.
Visualize 5 things we’re grateful for.
Keep a list of all your favorite things - start a new list every month in the notes app on your phone. Under “March” go in and add things that feel good. Mine this month include a specific cold brew coffee, morning meditation wrapped in a blanket, walking in the cold to a favorite podcast and roasted sweet potatoes. You’ll realize how the smallest things can bring you so much joy and they are so fun to read back on!
